Old Town is a historic district in North Side Chicago. Old town is noted for many of the older and Victorian buildings. Originally settled in the mid 19th century by German Catholics, the area still today has its distinct charm. The Old Town Fair is held every year in June where 250 artists display their art in all mediums including painting, drawing and more. Shopping in Old Town is also an experience where nearly no chain stores exist. Virtually all shops are boutique and eclectic with one-of-a-kind items.
Restaurants are abundant. Some chains and some one-offs from Asian inspired to Mexican. Bars and clubs are also abound for after work drinks or late evening gatherings.
Pockets of residential neighborhoods are peppered in between the commercial high rises. Tree-lined streets are complete with charm with townhomes and single family dwellings distinct in their architecture. Although residents of Old Town are often more affluent, it is not one of the most expensive neighborhoods.
